The SHERO initiative has made significant strides in improving sexual and reproductive health awareness among Black women in Lambeth.
With two flagship events held, SHERO has engaged hundreds of attendees and thousands within the larger community, offering vital resources, health screenings and culturally tailored education. Each flagship event includes sexual health talks by experts, onsite health and wellbeing checks by health professionals as well as interactive and fun sessions for the entire family – all delivered in a culturally appropriate way that empowers women with the knowledge and tools to take charge of their health.
Eleven (11) Community Champions have also been recruited and trained to further deepen the programme’s outreach and advocacy impact. The feedback received from the community so far indicate that the initiative has been “informative, engaging, and transformative” – thereby solidifying SHERO’s role in helping to improve awareness of, and addressing health disparities within the Black African and Caribbean community in not just Lambeth, but South London as a whole.
